Uzana

Usana [ ozanɐ ], or Uzana ( Bulgarian Узана ) is a region and a resort in Central Bulgaria. Here is the geographic center of the country.

Location

The region is situated at the foot of the 1524 m high summit Ispolin in the National Park of the central Balkan Mountains, in the Central Balkan National Park. The nearest major town is 22 km Gabrovo, there is a good road links and regular bus service.

Tourism

Usana is also a tourist resort, especially for winter. It consists of very large meadows surrounded by forests. The resort is located at an altitude of 1220 m to 1350 m. The highest point is the summit Markov stol (1352 m). The longest runway is 1300 m long. In the resort Usana there are 15 hotels. The annual snowfall amount is 5.08 m. The environment is suitable for climbers and cavers. The history of the resort Usana began in 1937, as here, the mountain hut " Usana " was built.

Of Usana many hiking routes lead into the Balkan Mountains, including the monument on Shipka Pass and the summit Busludscha ( Bulg Бузлуджа, 1441 m).

Usana is located at the distance footpath Kom - Emine ( Bulg Ком - Емине ), which is part of the European long distance path is E3.

Not far from Usana is the ethnographic open-air museum Etar ( Bulg Етъра ), the Sokolski Monastery ( Bulg Соколският манастир ) is a few kilometers away.
