Uzeb

Uzeb was a Canadian jazz fusion band from Montreal ( Quebec), which was active from 1976 to 1992. The members consisted of Alain Caron ( bass guitar ), Michel Cusson ( guitar ) and Paul Brochu together (drums). Uzeb played a mixture of partially virtuoso synthesizer sounds, which was based on the original compositions. The band won a number of Canadian awards during the 1980s.

Career

Uzeb was founded in Drummondville, Quebec, by the guitarist Michel Cusson 1976. The name Uzeb came through the shortening of the word Eusèbe Jazz existence (the group played their first concert in Saint- Eusèbe ). Soon after the founding of the band moved to Montreal. The drummer Jean St -Jacques and bassist Alain Caron were 1978 members of the band. The drummer position was then occupied by Sylvain Coutu and from 1980 again permanently by Paul Brochu. By 1987, also played a keyboardist in Uzeb. In the 1980s, they were known for their highly advanced Midi technology.

After 1987 Uzeb became a trio from Cusson, Caron and Brochu. Uzeb won the Quebec Félix Award as " Band of the Year " in 1984 and 1989. Moreover, they won prizes for the best jazz album for 1983, 1984, 1986 and 1987. Uzeb made ​​several tours through Canada. 1991 Uzeb won the Oscar Peterson Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented at the Montreal International Jazz Festival in the same year. Uzeb played their first European concert in 1981 at the Bracknell Jazz Festival in England. 1983 Uzeb played at the Festival de Jazz in Paris. They also occurred in other European countries as well as in Southeast Asia. Her most famous songs are: Junk Funk, Smiles and Chuckles, Mile "O", 60, rue des Lombards, Spider and Uzeb Club.
