Uzeyir Hajibeyov
Üzeyir Əbdul Hiiseyn oglu Hacıbəyov (Russian Узеир Абдул - Гусейн оглы Гаджибеков / Useir Abdul- Gussein ogly Gadschibekow; * 5 Septemberjul / September 17 1885greg in Ağcabədi, .. † November 23, 1948 in Baku ) was a Soviet and Azerbaijani composer, musicologists, publicist, playwright and educator. He is considered the founder of modern Azerbaijani music and opera, and is the composer of the first opera in the Muslim East at all.
This opera Leyli va Majnun ( Leyli və Məcnun ) was premiered on 25 January 1908 in Baku in the theater of the Azerbaijani millionaire and benefactor Hacı Zeynəlabdin Tağıyev. Hacıbəyov also wrote the following additional operas: Scheykh Sanan ( seyx Sən'an, 1909), Rüstam va Söhrab (1910 ), Shah Abbas va Khurschid banu ( Shah Abbas və Xurşid banu, 1912), Asli va Karam (1912 ), Harun va Leyla (1915 ) and Köroglu (1937 ); for the last he was awarded the Stalin Prize in 1941.
Hacıbəyov is the founder of Azerbaijani musical comedy (O olmasin bu olsun, 1910; Arshin ( arsine ) by alan and others). The latter was translated into Russian, English, German, Chinese, Arabic, Persian, Polish, Ukrainian, Belorussian, Georgian and other languages and 1917, 1945 (this variant was one of the most popular films in the USSR) and filmed in 1965. Hacıbəyov received his musical training in St. Petersburg and Moscow. He founded a music school in Baku, which was named after him in 1949 as a conservatory, a folk instrument orchestra and a symphony orchestra. Apart from his operas, he wrote two overtures, chamber music, piano pieces, cantatas, songs and mass choirs. In 1945 he composed the national anthem of Azerbaijan. Besides this he also writes music theory works out.
1982 movies about Üzeyir Hacıbəyov ( Üzeyir Hacıbəyov and Uzun ömrün akkordları, Director Anar ) were produced.
Hacıbəyov wrote both the melody of the anthem of Azerbaijan SSR and the Azerbaijan National Anthem today.
