V. S. Ramadevi
Ramadevi completed her training in Eluru and Hyderabad. She studied law and obtained an LL.M. - and a MA degree. After that, she was initially registered as a solicitor at the Andhra Pradesh High Court and then went into the civil service. After years in the field of justice, she was briefly chairman of the Indian Election Commission in 1990. From 1 July 1993 to 25 July 1997, she was Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha. She has held from 26 July 1997 to December 1, 1999 the Office of the Governor of Himachal Pradesh and on 2 December 1999 to 20 August 2002 of the Governor of Karnataka.
Ramadevi died on April 17, 2013 in Bangalore.
