Vācaspati Miśra

Vachaspati Mishra ( Sanskrit: वाचस्पति मिश्र Vācaspati Misra ) was an Indian Brahmin from Mithila, who lived in the 9th or 10th century. He wrote comments on various Indian educational systems, especially for Advaita Vedanta, Yoga, Samkhya and Nyaya.

Among the well-known works include Bhāmatī, a Subkommentar to Shankara Brahmasūtrabhāṣya, which Vachaspati Mishra founded the " Bhamati school" of Advaita Vedanta. The work Sāmkhyatattvakaumudī is the most famous treatise on the Samkhyalehre. Tattvavaiśāradī is considered an important Subkommentar to Vyasa Yogasūtrabhāṣya and contributes greatly to the understanding of Patanjali Yogasutra.
