Vaccination schedule

The immunization schedule of the Standing Vaccination Committee of the Robert Koch Institute (STIKO ) (updated August 1, 2011 from the Epidemiologic Bulletin No. 30/ 11) recommends the following vaccinations ( ages each in completed months or years ):

  • Immediately after birth: simultaneous hepatitis B vaccination for children with hepatitis B diseased mothers
  • 2 months: tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type b, polio, hepatitis B, pneumococcal
  • 3 months: tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type b 1, Polio1, hepatitis B1, pneumococcal
  • 4 months ago: tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type b, polio, hepatitis B, pneumococcal
  • 11-14 months: tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae type b, polio, hepatitis B, pneumococcus, measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox, meningococcal (from the age of 12 months )
  • 15-23 months: Measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox
  • 5-6 years: tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis booster
  • 9-17 years: tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis and polio booster, where appropriate, complete the hepatitis B vaccination status
  • 12-17 years: Human papillomavirus for girls
  • 18 years and older: tetanus and diphtheria booster every 10 years; once during the next tetanus - diphtheria booster in combination with pertussis.
  • Adults born in 1970 or younger: measles vaccination ( measles / mumps / rubella vaccine ) when in childhood has been vaccinated only once or not at all.
  • Over 60 years: Influenza annually; Pneumococcal unique, boosters for special indications ( every 5 years).

To keep the number of injections low, the STIKO recommends the use of combination vaccines.

All of the above recommended by the STIKO vaccinations are mandatory benefits of the statutory health insurance ( according to § 20d SGB V)
