Vains

Vains is a commune with 725 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Manche in Basse-Normandie region.

Geographical location

Vains lies north of the mouth of the Sée and Sélune, in the Bay of Mont -Saint -Michel with eight kilometers of coastline. Of the 858 acres are about 140 acres of salty sheep pastures.

Geology

The surface consists of shale, which is more than 600 million years old.

Neighboring communities

Vains borders the municipalities of Marcey -les- Greves, Bacilly and Genets.

Community structure

The municipality consists of two villages in three kilometers away.

The main town, where the town hall, church and schools are located, is called by the inhabitants of Bourg de Vains (village of Vains ). The other village around the Priory is called Saint- Léonard. The priory had fallen long and has been restored.
