The Vair is a right tributary of the upper Meuse in France. The catchment area of ​​the 65-kilometer Vair is 459.5 km ².

The river rises on the eastern slope of the 497 m high Côte de Haut Mont in the south of the department of Vosges, in the municipality of Dombrot -le -Sec. The Côte de Haut Mont is a mountain ridge in the Monts Faucilles that over its entire length and with heights up to 500 m above sea level. NHN forms part of the main European watershed.

The Meuse basin is very narrow in the Lorraine region, so that only short rivers flow to the Meuse. The valley of the Vair with its tributaries Petit Vair, Vraine and Frezelle here is an exception. In the catchment area of the river, the city of Vittel, which is known for its mineral springs and the huge park is located. Between the communities Greux and Moncel -sur- Vair Vair flows into the river in the River Meuse.
