Vaires-sur-Marne
Vaires -sur- Marne ( IPA: [ vɛʁ syʁ maʁn ] ) is a commune with 12,812 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Seine- et- Marne in the Île- de -France region. It lies in the east of Greater Paris, the distance to the center of Paris is about 22 kilometers. The inhabitants are called Vairois.
Geography
Vaires -sur -Marne is located on the River Marne. Through the urban area and the Canal de Chelles runs with a larger lock system. The community is surrounded by Brou -sur- Chantereine in the north, Pomponne in the east, Torcy in the south, southwest and Noisiel in Chelles in the west and northwest.
History
First mentioned is the place 1389th until the 20th century the population of the municipality rose (1921 were 1,284 residents counted ).
