Vajnory

Vajnory ( Weinern German, Hungarian Pozsonyszőllős - Szőllős to 1907 ) is located at the foothills of the Little Carpathians, a district in the north-east of Bratislava.

Description and History

The town was first mentioned in records in 1237 and was through the centuries as well Raca one marked by wine community. From 1851 to 1946 she was independently and then came as a district of the city Bratislava. The Slovak name is derived from the German name, formerly the place had even the Slavic name Praca / Pračany, which is also reflected in the former Hungarian name Prácsa.
