Vakil Bazaar

Vakil Bazaar (Bazaar -e Vakil ) is the largest bazaar in the city of Shiraz in the historic center.

History

By some accounts, the construction of the bazaar began under the Buyids in the 10th century and was conducted under the Atabegs of Fars to an end. In the 18th century, Karim Khan Zand named after him. According to other representations of the building dates back to the reign of Karim Khan Zand '.

Architecture

The wind of numerous domes covered in brick vaults and arches supported by 74 well-proportioned building extends over 800 meters and is considered a masterpiece of Persian Architecture. He shall also be the best place in the city of Shiraz to buy spices, carpets, copper crafts and antiques.

In the bazaar there are caravanserais, bath houses and courtyards. A high arched junction separates the main bazaar of the East and West wings. Some best-selling niches were destroyed in the east as the Zand Avenue, Shiraz.

As usual with bazaars of the Near and Middle East, some mosques and Imamzadehs are in its immediate vicinity, such as the Vakil Mosque.
