Val-de-Meuse

Val- de -Meuse is a commune in the Haute- Marne Champagne- Ardenne region, it belongs to the district of Langres and is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the eponymous canton Val- de -Meuse. In 1929 the municipality of inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) at 92.56 km ².

Geography

Val- de -Meuse is located about 19.5 kilometers northeast of Langres on the plateau of Langres and about 29.5 kilometers southeast of Chaumont on the Autoroute A31 (exit 8).

History

The name was since early times Montigny -le- Roi. During the French Revolution it was changed in Montigny -source Meuse.

In 1966 the place was incorporated Meuse. In 1972, the venue became known as Le Val- de -Meuse with the incorporation of villages Avrecourt, Épinant, LECOURT, Maulain, Provenchères -sur -Meuse, Ravennefontaines, Récourt and Saulxures. 1974 still Lénizeul was incorporated and the town was given its present name. 2012 Places Avrecourt and Saulxures from the congregation were dismissed as independent communities again.
