Valdagno

Valdagno is a northeastern Italian town and municipality ( comune ) with 26,653 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Vicenza in the Veneto region. The village is located about 25 kilometers northwest of Vicenza. The name of the place called the Valley ( Valle) of the river Amnius or Agno or alder ( alnus Latin ).

History

861 the place is founded. The initial mention of the name dates back to the year 1184, as the place is given as a fief of the Bishop of Vicenza in the Trissino family. From 1291 to 1340 the city of Venice is subjected. In the meantime, it can be conquered by Bernabo Visconti, until it falls back to Venice in 1404. With the beginning of the 19th century, the place comes under French and Austrian rule until 1866 and is part of the Kingdom of Italy.
