History

The fertile valley ( Portuguese: Vale ) was since prehistoric times, the settlement area of man. The first officially documented record comes from a deed of King Ordonho II from the year 922 in the course of time the circle led by different names so Caymbra, Santa Maria de Caymbra, Câmara do Bispo de Coimbra, Cambra and finally Macieira de Cambra.
