Valendas ( in the local Walser dialect Faladòòs [ fɐlɐdɔ ː s]; ? Romansh in the neighborhood Valendau [ ˌ valəndaʊ̯ ] / i) until December 31, 2012, a municipality in the district Ilanz in the district Surselva the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. Geography

The town is located on a terrace above the right side of the front Rhine Gorge ( Ruinaulta ) on the northern slopes of the Piz Riein at an altitude of 810 m. History

In the will of Bishop Tello of 765 the place is first mentioned under the name Valendano. In the 12th century appears a noble family of Valendas, which served various barons.
