Valentin Rose (pharmacologist)

Valentin Rose the Younger ( born October 30, 1762 in Berlin, † August 9, 1807 in Berlin) was a German chemist and pharmacist.

Valentin Rose came from the Brandenburg merchant and family of scholars rose. He was the oldest child of Valentin Rose the Elder. From 1785 to 1790 he was provisor and 1791 owner of his father's pharmacy The White Swan in Berlin ( Spandau Str 77), in which also the chemist Martin Heinrich Klaproth worked. Rose was the guardian of Karl Friedrich Schinkel (1781-1841), who lost his father already in 1787 and moved with his mother and siblings in 1794 to Berlin. His eldest son, William Rose (1792-1867) later took over the pharmacy. When he graduated from Theodor Fontane 1836-1840 apprenticeship as a pharmacist. Fontane describes this time in the first chapter of his autobiographical novel from twenty to thirty.
