Valentina Popova

Valentina Wadimowna Popova (Russian Валентина Вадимовна Попова, scientific transliteration Valentina Popova Vadimovna; born September 25, 1972 in Bratsk / Siberia) is a Russian weightlifter.

Career

Valentina began as a girl with the gymnastics and then switched over to MMA. In both sports, they brought it but to no outstanding successes. After high school she studied at the Moscow Institute of Physical Culture and Sports. After she married the former weightlifter Sergei Popov, began the 1.64 m wide, now living in Voronezh athlete, also with the weight lifting. Her husband was also her coach. In 1997, she was inducted into the Russian national team and since 1998 she won almost every major international events medals. In the 2006 European Championship in Poland Władiławowo, originally agreed at the Valentina in second place, it was, however, convicted of doping. She was disqualified and excluded from the International Weightlifting Federation IWF for two years from the international competitive sport. The two -year ban for Valentina Popova would have expired on May 4, 2008. Shortly before, but it was tested positive again at a training control. For this reason, it now has a lifetime of locked International Weightlifting Federation.
