Valentinian dynasty

The Valentinian dynasty was a Roman dynasty, founded by Valentinian I in 364. In the west they went with Valentinian II below, in the east already with Valens.

The dynasty was succeeded by the Theodosian dynasty (in the east after the death of Valens, in the West after the death of Valentinian II ). The founder of the Theodosian dynasty, Theodosius I, was his second wife, Galla, daughter of Valentinian I., married. From this marriage a daughter emerged called Galla Placidia. Therefore partly both families were aggregated to Valentinian - Theodosian dynasty, especially in the Anglo-Saxon research. So was Emperor Valentinian III. , The son of Galla Placidia, not only the grandson of Theodosius I, but also the great-grandson of Valentinian I.

About Constantia, daughter of Constantius II and wife of Gratian, the family was also connected to the Constantinian dynasty that preceded it.
