Valeria of Milan

Valeria of Milan († 60 in Milan ) was, according to tradition an early Christian martyr.

Valeria is considered to be the wife of the Holy Vitalis of Ravenna and mother of saints Gervase and Protasius, but there are traditions which see her as a consecrated virgin. After the execution of her husband in Ravenna Valeria wanted to bury this, what they refused. Then she moved to Milan, where they suffered martyrdom a few days later because of their faith. As for Vitali's now mostly martyrdom under the Emperor Marcus Aurelius is considered more likely than those dating to the time of the emperor Nero, the classic dating of the martyrdom of Valeria applies to the period around 60 as subsequent early dating.

Valeria is venerated as a saint. Your feast day is, together with Vitalis, April 28.
