Valerie Frissen

Valerie Alice Josepha Frissen (* 1960 in Puth at Schinnen, Limburg ) is a Dutch communications expert.

After studying anthropology and communication studies she completed her doctorate in 1992 at the Catholic University of Nijmegen Radboud about the phenomenon of so-called Couch Potatos in the Netherlands. She then worked for eight years a lecturer at the University of Amsterdam before they took a job in the field of development of information and communication technologies in the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research ( TNO) 1999. There she led a project which examined the social impact of information and communication technologies on social interaction and their impact on politics.

Since 2003 she is an Associate Professor of Information and Communication Technology and Social Change (ICT en Sociale Verandering ) at the Philosophical Faculty of the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
