Valero Energy Corporation

The Valero Energy Corporation is an American petroleum company headquartered in San Antonio, Texas.

Valero Energy employs around 20,313 employees worldwide (as of 2010). The company owns 15 refineries in the United States, Canada and Caribbean countries. Valero Energy is the largest refinery owners in the United States and one of the largest gas station owners in North America.

Valero Energy is one of the largest companies listed in Fortune 500 companies. The shares will be traded under the symbol VLO on the New York Stock Exchange.

Among the brands of Valero Energy include Valero, Diamond Shamrock, Ultramar, Shamrock, Beacon and Total. While this marks the most visible in the public part of the company, they represent only a small part of the company dar.

History

The company was founded on 1 January 1980. Valero was previously a part of the company Coastal Corporation.

In 1981, the company acquired an oil refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas, and began in 1984 with the refinery.

1997 Valero Energy sold its natural gas companies range of Pacific Gas and Electric and concentrated his efforts on the oil market. Valero acquired the company based kerosene, making four other refineries in Texas and Louisiana were part of the company.

1998 Valero Energy acquired a refinery in Paulsboro, New Jersey.
