Valery Glivenko

Valeri Ivanovich Gliwenko (Russian Валерий Иванович Гливенко; born December 21 1896jul / January 2 1897greg in Kiev, .. † February 15, 1940 in Moscow) was a Russian mathematician and logician. The Gliwenko - Cantelli theorem - - According to him, and Francesco Cantelli the Fundamental Theorem of statistics was named.

Life

Gliwenko studied in Moscow and worked from 1928 until his death as professor at the local Pedagogical Institute " Karl Liebknecht ". In mathematics, he devoted his research to the foundations of mathematics, probability theory and the constructive logic.
