Valkyrien Allstars

The Valkyrien Allstars are a Norwegian musical group founded in 2002. The band took its name from the Valkyrien restaurant in Oslo.

Band History

The trio consists of Tuva Livsdatter Syvertsen, Ola Hilmen and Erik Sollid. They usually occur together with Magnus Larsen on bass and Martin Langlie as drummer.

In the fall of 2006, the Valkyrien Allstars got the grappa debutantpris and then a recording contract. The band's debut album was released on 1 October 2007 at the record label Heilo. For this album the Valkyrien Allstars received a nomination for the Spellemannprisen ( Norwegian Music Award ) for Best Newcomer of the Year. On 31 August 2009 released her second album To Maner ( Two Moons ) with the same label.

The band also occurs outside their home country Norway. Your first live concert in Germany the band gave on 6 May 2010 at the 19th Nordic sound in Greifswald.

Style

A feature of the band is the use of three Hardanger fiddles ( norweg. Hardingfele ). The music belongs to the area folk / pop your musical origins have Valkyrien Allstars in Norwegian folk music. By mixing different styles they have created their own sound. Particularly inspiring they can be by blues, jazz, reggae and rock.

The song takes predominantly frontwoman Tuva Syvertsen Livsdatter. The texts were written in part by well-known authors such as by William Shakespeare ( A Midsummer Night's Dream - Sommernattsdrøm from the album To Maner ), but they mix it with their own style and create something new.

Source of inspiration was the Norwegian musician and record producer Hallvard Kvåle, who also used the Hardanger fiddle.
