Geography

The 700 -acre wine region lies at an altitude 275-680 MT Sea level. The plots are created extremely kleingliedrig.

In the Valle de la Orotava is an area that was created by a tectonic fracture. The term "valley" is located 11 kilometers a little misleading at a level of about 10 ×. The Valle de la Orotava runs from the sea to a height of nearly 2,000 meters almost to the beginning of the Las Cañadas The Orotava Valley will be completed as a wall across the huge " Ladera de Tigaiga " in the West. With the " Ladera de Santa Ursula" the valley is bounded in the east by a steeply rising edge. It is the separation edges ( " amphitheater " ) a massive debris avalanche.

The soils

The island of Tenerife was formed about seven to five million years ago by volcanic activity. In low-lying areas in the production area there are sandy soils, in the middle height range there is pumice and in the elevated part predominate soils with limestone.

Climate

Tenerife, like all other islands of the Canary archipelago year round mild temperatures due to the south of the horse latitudes arising northeast trade winds. Especially during the day saturated with sea water air rises up on Teide massif. It formed in about 1,000 to 1,200 meters altitude clouds that condense when in contact with the local bay and pine forests to a fine drizzle.

By this fact, there are various micro-climates in the wine region of Valle de la Orotava. Near the coast to a height of 550m outweighs a dry and very warm climate. The vineyards at an altitude of 550 to almost 700 m, the climate is cooler and wetter.
