Valmestroff

Valmestroff ( German Walmesdorf ) is a commune with 253 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Thionville -Est and Canton Metzervisse.

Geography

Valmestroff is located about seven kilometers east of Thionville at an altitude 155-256 m above sea level, the average height is 200 m. The municipality covers 3.78 km ².

History

The village was first documented in 1147 as Wlensdorf and belongs since 1661 to France.

From 1812 to 1923 Valmestroff was incorporated into the neighboring Elzange.
