Valmieras FK

FK Valmiera is a Latvian football club from Valmiera.

History

The FK Valmiera was founded in 1996. The team played in their first season in the 1st Division, the second highest Latvian league. She enrolled at the end of the second place, reaching the play-offs against second-bottom of the Virsliga. Valmiera won two games against Skonto Metals 2:1 and thus rose to the highest Latvian Football League.

Valmiera played seven years in the Virsliga. After a seventh place in the first season, the teams always reached the fifth and sixth place in the following years. After the 2003 season had the team, despite a sixth place, return due to financial difficulties again in the first league.
