Valse triste (Sibelius)

Valse triste, Op 44 is a 1904 incurred concert waltz by Jean Sibelius and one of his most famous works.

Two years after the premiere of Arvid Järnefelt drama Kuolema ( "Death " ), for which Sibelius wrote incidental music, he worked on three pieces from new. One of these he named as Valse triste and entered his rights for very little money from a publisher who made ​​a fortune on it. For the other two numbers, the "Scene with Cranes " was created to imitate the cry of the birds in the two clarinets.
