Valtari ( [ val̥tarɪ ], isl. For " roll " ) is the sixth regular studio album by the Icelandic band Sigur Rós and end of May 2012 has been released.

Publication

In May 2009, the band announced a new studio album for 2010. The recordings were however rejected and in the ensuing period was a singer Jónsi with the completion of his solo album Go and the soundtrack to the film We Bought a Zoo busy.

In March 2012, the new release date was announced and also the first single Erki Mukk provided on the band's own website as a stream. The whole album was played out in a Valtari Hour Special on the band's homepage and on various radio stations on May 17, 2012. The fans were called upon to share their impressions of the album on the internet.

Reviews

Valtari has been a Metascore of 74 %, based on 26 reviews. This album has indeed still vote " Generally favorable" ( generally recommended ), but does not compare to previous albums of the band from something worse.

The Valtari Mystery Movie Experiment

The band decided, instead of conventional video shoots, equip a dozen filmmakers with a budget and to have them realize their creative ideas without further specifications. The first video in this series called The Mystery Valtari film experiment directed by Ragnar Kjartansson and celebrated 21 March 2012 premiere.
