History

Construction on the arena began in April 1996 and was completed two and a half year later. The basketball team Ohio State had their home games previously held in the St. John Arena, during the ice hockey team in the OSU Ice Arena played. After opening both teams moved into the then named Value City Arena supporting new hall. After the naming rights in 2008 by Schottenstein Stores Corp.. were acquired, the venue was to Jerome Schottenstein, founder of the company and promoter of the project arenas, renamed.

In 2005, the arena hosted the NCAA Frozen Four, the College Championship in ice hockey.
