Van Krevelen diagram

The van Krevelen diagram is a 1957 by Dirk Willem van Krevelen (chemist and professor at the TU Delft for fuel technology ) developed Diagram to determine the mineability of oil deposits. It is used, the atomic ratio of oxygen (O) to carbon ( C) and the ratio of hydrogen (H) to carbon for determining the maturity and quality of the oil. It can be differentiated between possible origins: algae, lipids ( spores and pollen) and cellulose. Originally the shows based on Seyler's coal characterization diagram constructed the contemporary historical development of different types of coal, about the development status of biomass.
