Vanadium ( III) is an inorganic nitride chemical bond of the vanadium from the group consisting of the nitrides.
Production and representation
Vanadium (III ) nitride can be obtained by the reaction of vanadium with nitrogen or ammonia.
Properties
Vanadium (III ) nitride is a black half-metallic solid with a homogeneous field VN 1 ,0- VN0, 7, and a crystal structure of sodium chloride type. Vanadium (III ) nitride, vanadium (IV) carbide, and vanadium (II ) oxide have isotypic crystal structures in which the nitrogen, carbon and oxygen can be exchanged, and form solid solutions. Vanadium (III ) nitride forms solid solution with titanium nitride, niobium nitride, titanium carbide, niobium carbide and tantalum carbide.
