Vanault-le-Châtel

Vanault -le- Châtel is a commune with 179 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Marne, in the Champagne -Ardenne region. It belongs to the district Vitry -le- François and Canton Heiltz -le- Maurupt.

Geography

The municipality is situated approximately 30 kilometers southeast of Chalons-en -Champagne and 20 kilometers north east of Vitry -le- François. Neighboring communities of Vanault -le- Châtel are:

  • Bussy -le- Repos in the north,
  • Saint -Jean- devant- Possesse in the east,
  • Vanault -les -Dames in the southeast,
  • Val -de- Vière and Bassu in the south,
  • Saint- Amand- sur -Fion in the southwest and
  • Coupéville and Le Fresne in the northwest.

Vanault -le- Châtel, in the catchment area of the river Vanichon which extends generally in an easterly direction and empties into the Vière after about 10 kilometers.
