Vandans located in the westernmost province of Austria, Vorarlberg, the district of Bludenz to 648 meters. 26.2 % of the area is forested, 34 % of the area Alps.

History

The name " Vandans " comes from ad fontana - this means In the waters. The four torrents

The place was from 1945 to 1955 part of the French zone of occupation in Austria.

Demographics

On 31 December 2002 the municipality had 2,937 inhabitants including second homes. The proportion of foreigners was placed at 9.9%.

Policy

The municipal council consists of 24 members. After, partly due to the cleavage of the Freedom Party, which for several decades had an absolute majority in Vandans, all parties ( The composition of the 2000 election (then 21 seats ) previously represented in the municipal council was: ÖVP 7 seats, SPÖ 2 seats, 12 seats FPÖ ) had resolved, as the list of "Together for Vandans " to compete in the local council elections in 2005 and also took no further list more, reached this 100 % of the valid votes. Coat of arms

The coat of arms is derived from Markus Bachmann and the award of the coat of arms by the Provincial Government of Vorarlberg on 26 January 1965. Clubs

  • Harmony Music Vandans

In Vandans there since 1898, a brass band, the "Harmony Music Vandans ". By November 2013, the chapel is one of 66 female musicians. During the year various obligations (eg: concerts, contests, brunch, ...) are perceived. In the club year 2012/13, these were 21 events which were responsible for the music.

  • Trachtengruppe Vandans

  • Volunteer Fire Vandans

In 2007, an active state team of 47 men and one woman as well as 11 honorary members are listed. The vehicles are made up of a pumper, a small fire truck and a crew transport vehicle.

  • Vandanser Aktivclub

The Vorarlberg Illwerke build between Latschau Vandans and a toboggan run for year-round use. The Heinrich Hueter Lodge is a popular hiking destination of Vandans and starting point for the ascent of the Zimba.
