Vandenberg AFB Space Launch Complex 3

Space Launch Complex -3 ( SLC -3, pronounced " Slick Three" ) is a launch site at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, USA.

SLC -3 was the first launch site of the U.S. Atlas rocket. The launch complex was built in the early 1960s and consists of the two launch platforms SLC -3E and SLC - 3W. In contrast to the launch facilities on the east coast of the U.S., like Cape Canaveral AFS and Kennedy Space Center, allows extending from east to west coastline payloads into polar orbits to start.

In 2003, the Launch Complex 3E at the start of the Atlas V rocket was rebuilt .. The Launch Complex 3W was briefly used for testing of the Falcon 1 rocket.
