Vandino and Ugolino Vivaldi

Ugolino de Vivaldo (Italian Ugolino Vivaldi also; † after 1291 ) was a Genoese explorer who was in command in the first known expedition in search of a sea route from Europe to India with his brother Guido de Vivaldo or Vadino.

Life

For the expedition, the brothers de Vivaldo endowed with the aid of Tedisio Doria of two galleys ( Allegranza and Sant'Antonio ). In May 1291 with 300 men left the port of Genoa with the aim of reaching India across the Atlantic and bring home useful commodities.
