Vanna (Troms)

Vanna (also Vannøya ) is a Norwegian island north of the Arctic Circle. It belongs administratively to the municipality Karlsøy in Troms County.

The island Vanna is 30 km long and up to 16 km wide in north-south direction. Its area is 232 km ². By the Bay Skipsfjorden and it sparks valley Skipsfjordalen the island is divided almost in two parts. She reached in Vanntinden in the southwest with 1031 m their greatest height. Of the banachbarten Islands Helgøy, Reinøy and Fugløya Vanna is separated by the Hamrefjorden, the Vannsundet and Fugløyfjorden. Important towns are Torsvåg and Vannareid. The island is connected by ferry with Karlsøy and Hansnes. Speedboats operate to Tromsø, North Lenangen and Skjervøy.
