Varberg Municipality

Varberg is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Halland County and the historical province of Halland. The main town of the municipality of Varberg.

Economy

The largest employers in the community are the local government itself with approximately 4,500 employees and the judicial authority of the province with approximately 1,400 employees. This is also the largest nuclear power plant in Sweden, Ringhals, in which about 1,400 people are employed. Also significant is the Internet company LunarWorks which operates Sweden's most visited online Community ( Lunarstorm ). Furthermore, there are bigger factories for the production and processing of paper, wood and concrete.

About 5,000 residents of the municipality commute daily to Gothenburg or Falkenberg and about 3,200 commuters come into the community to work.

Conservation

South of the town of Varberg is located in the municipality of Varberg Nature Reserve Gamla Gamla Köpstad Naturreservatet Köpstad, which can be reached from the places Gamla Köpstad or Träslövsläge from. In Gamla Köpstad there is also an observation tower with information boards.

17 km west of the coast, the shallow flat bread is basic, and a good 20 km south-west Lilla Middelburg reason, both Natura 2000 sites.
