Variable-width encoding

Multibyte Character Set ( MBCS ) denotes character encodings, which depends on the characters to be stored differently many bytes are used.

The most important representatives of MBCS are: UTF- 8, UTF- 16, UTF -7, Shift -JIS, Big5 and GB2312.
