Vasa IFK

Vasa IFK ( Idrottsföreningen Kamraterna Vasa, short VIFK ) is a sports club from the western Finnish city of Vaasa (Swedish Vasa ).

The club was founded in 1900. In football, the club enjoyed its most successful years in the 1940s and 1950s. 1944, 1946 and 1953 VIFK Finnish Champion, 1951 and 1952 runner-up. In 1994, the club was relegated from the second-rate Ykkönen from the third division ( Kakkonen ) and played until relegation in 2000 in this league. After a fourth division season 2001, the club returned to the Kakkonen back and in 2005 was their master and thus rose again in the Ykkönen on, from the one in 2008 but relegated again. The local rivals VPS Vaasa is now regarded as the undisputed number one city in football.

After VIFK 1988, a merger with the Association ABK -48 entered joined the club until 2000 under the name BK- IFK.
