Vascular resistance

As a vascular or circulatory resistance is defined as the flow resistance of a vessel opposes the heart. The vascular resistance can be increased by stenosis.

One distinguishes the total vascular resistance ( TPR, total peripheral resistance), which measures the arterial branch, the cerebral vascular resistance in the blood vessels of the brain and pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR, pulmonary vascular resistance) in the vessels of the pulmonary circulation.
