Vasileios Pliatsikas (2011)

Vasileios Pliatsikas (Greek Βασίλειος Πλιάτσικας [ vasiliɔs pl atsikas ʲ ]; born April 14, 1988 in Athens ) is a Greek football player.

Career

Clubs

Pliatsikas began his career at FC Chaidari, a club based in a suburb of Athens. In the season 2004/ 05 he was there for the first team squad. For the season 2005/ 06 he moved to AEK Athens. With AEK he took in the seasons 2005/ 06 and 2007/ 08 UEFA Cup and the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League. In summer 2009, he moved from Athens to FC Schalke 04 at FC Schalke 04 he signed a four year contract. Pliatsikas should replace the injured Jermaine Jones Schalke. The defensive midfielder has been recommended to the FC Schalke 04 by Otto Rehhagel.

After he could not prevail at Schalke, Pliatsikas was borrowed from the 2011/12 season at the MSV Duisburg. On the opening day he received the yellow card, the same fate befell him on Matchday. His first goal for MSV Duisburg shot Pliatsikas 15 October 2011 against FC Ingolstadt 04 In the summer of 2012, he returned to FC Schalke 04, where he worked in the 2012/13 season only the cadres of playing in the Regionalliga West second team belonged. After half a year he was initially left without a club in the 2013/14 season, he joined in February 2014 the Ukrainian first division Metalurh Donetsk on.

National

Pliatsikas participated with the Greek Under-19 National Team at the U-19 European Football Championships in 2007 and reached the final, which was, however, lost to Spain. For the game against Luxembourg on September 6, 2008 Pliatsikas was first called by coach Otto Rehhagel in the squad of the Greek national football team, but did not play. His first assignment was followed on 19 November 2008, when he came off the bench in the game against Italy.
