Vasily Yan

Vasily Jan (Russian Василий Ян, scientific transliteration Jan Vasily, Vasily Grigoryevich actually Jantschewezki, russ Василий Григорьевич Янчевецкий; born December 23 1874jul / January 4 1875greg in Kiev, .. † August 5, 1954 in Zvenigorod ) was a Russian writer.

Life

His father was a teacher and translator of Greek classics, the mother he comes from an old Zaporozhian Cossack gender. One of his ancestors fought in the Battle of Kunersdorf (1759 ) and was awarded a silver medal. He graduated in 1897, the historical- philological faculty and worked as a special correspondent of SPA (St. Petersburg Telegraph Agency ) on the staff of the commander in chief worked. After the war he returned to Central Asia and in 1918 returned to his homeland. In 1923 he settled in Moscow and died in 1954.
