Vasily Zolotarev

Vasily Zolotarev (Russian Василий Андреевич Золотарёв; born 24 Februarjul / March 8 1873greg in Taganrog, .. † May 25, 1964 in Moscow) was a Russian composer.

Solotaryov studied in Saint Petersburg in Mili Balakirev, Rimsky - Korsakov and Anatoly Ljadow. He taught in St. Petersburg, Rostov, Moscow, Jekatarinodar, Odessa, Sverdlovsk and Minsk. His most famous student was Mieczysław Weinberg.

From 1941 he lived in Moscow. In addition to several operas he composed a ballet, seven symphonies, three orchestral suites, a cello concerto and six string quartets.
