VASSAL Engine
The VASSAL software is a free Java program that provides a platform for board games, card games and tabletop games to play against other players online. The games can be played in real time over the Internet or by e -mail ( PBEM ). VASSAL is designed to easily run on all operating systems.
VASSAL does not contain any games, for each simulated game a module must be loaded. The program was originally created by Rodney Kinney for playing Advanced Squad Leader on the Internet and later expanded to give developers the ability to create their own modules. VASSAL is characterized above all by its simple editing options, so even non- programmers can develop modules.
