Vault (gymnastics)

When you jump it is a discipline of arts and gymnastics equipment, which was traditionally performed at the vaulting horse. From the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2001 in Ghent, Belgium, this was replaced by the jump table.

The task is the unit to cross in certain prescribed forms, after jumped off a diving board. This requires a restart of max. 25 m allowed. The impression from the device must be done with your hands.

The women must present their jump twice in the all around, of which only the higher-rated in the all-around score received. The men have only one attempt in the all around. In the respective devices finals women as men jump two jumps from different groups (such as rollovers or Radwenden ) must show their ratings are then averaged.

Vaulting horse or vaulting table

With the jumper is 120 cm (female) and 135 cm (male) high, 160 cm long and 35 cm wide and is covered with a leathery substance. Women had the horse in the transverse direction, however, men cross in the longitudinal direction. The jump table is 95 cm wide and 120 cm long. The height of the device was increased in women to 125 cm in men, it remained 135 cm. A distinction between transverse and longitudinal behavior in men and women no longer exists.

The jump table provides against the vaulting horse several advantages:

  • The support surface is inclined slightly, making it easier for the gymnast or the Turner to redirect the start-up speed in height.
  • The jump table has a (mostly designed as a leaf spring ) suspension, which gives the athlete a better impression.
  • The support surface is much broader, which allows a more secure support.
  • At the same time male and female competitions the device only needs to be adjusted in height and no longer be completely rebuilt (turning the horse around 90 °, the correct runway ).
  • The risk of injury in refusing jumps or by slipping off the diving board is significantly lower, since you meet on a cushioned, resilient surface.

Assessment

Under the new code of points (Code of Points, 2009 edition ), the evaluation is made up of two components:

Up to the year 2000 ( less than 2.5 m) were made point deductions for lack of width of the flight after the impression of the device. In the current artistic gymnastics, the width ceases to be rated. Here, however, put on a significant rise phase of the center of mass after the Handprint value.
