Vayigash
Vayigash (Hebrew ויגש "And he stood, = Judah " ) refers to a reading portion ( Parasha or Sidra called ) comprises the Torah and the text gene / Bereshit 44.18 to 47.27.
It is the Sidra of the 1st or 2nd Sabbath in the month of Tevet.
Gist
- Judah has the suffering that would meet the father Jacob when Benjamin, the youngest brother, not returned home to him, and asks to be allowed to take his act as a slave to Joseph.
- Josef makes all foreigners to leave the room and gives out with a loud cry to his brothers that he can, richly endowed with gifts, travel home to fetch his father.
- Jakob comes with his large family to Egypt, is received by the King and blesses them.
- Josef acquires during the famine against grain Egyptian soil for the Pharaoh, a fifth of the income to be delivered to the Pharaoh. Only the priests remain their property.
