Veelböken

Veelböken is a municipality in the district of North West in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is administered by the Office Gadebusch based in the same city.

Geography

The community Veelböken between Schwerin and Lubeck in a ground moraine between the rivers Radegast and Stepenitz.

The municipality consists of the villages Botelsdorf, Mrs. Mark, Hindenberg, Passow, Passow expansion, Paetrow, Rambeel and Veelböken.

History

Passow was named as Parsowe in records in 1230. The name comes from the old Slavic from prah and points to the Slavic locator down, so the location of the pars.

In 1944, in the church of the murders of American airmen, for those in the Dachau flyer processes six people, including the block warden of Veelböken, were sentenced to death.

Economy and Transport

Economy

In Veelböken agriculture plays a major role in several farms farming acreage and operate dairy farming and pig breeding. The former manor house in the village has been transformed into a modern nursing home. The nature in the area is largely intact, beside storks you can watch the rare sea eagles here.

The Federal Highway 208 from Wismar to Gadebusch run is 1 km of Veelböken. It is 6 kilometers distant city Gadebusch consists rail connection in the state capital Schwerin.
