Vegas Vic

Vegas Vic, the unofficial, but frequently used name for an illuminated landmarks of Las Vegas, which depicts a cowboy.

It was designed in 1951, and stood over the Pioneer Club on Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas. The Young Electric Sign Company ( Yesco ) constructed a 23-meter (75 -foot) version of Vegas Vic, which represented a cowboy in blue jeans with a yellow- spotted shirt. He had a movable arm with a cigarette in his hand, and a voice that said every 15 minutes " Howdy Partner". The voice was again removed in 1966, when Lee Marvin complained about the volume of the voice. In 1994, the Fremont Street Experience was built, had a part of his hat be removed to make room for the roof.
