Vehicle registration plates of Iran

The license plates of Iran since 2005, similar to the Euro plate. The flag is - read from right to left - according to the reading direction of the Persian literary language. On the right side there is a box divided off. In the upper part is the country name "Iran " in Farsi. Below is a two-digit Indo- Arabic number for the registration district in which the vehicle was registered. In the actual tag field first three Indo- Arabic numerals, which are followed by one or two letters of the Persian alphabet and two other Indo- Arabic numerals. On the left edge is divided, a blue bar. In the upper part of the Iranian national flag is seen. Below that is held in the Latin alphabet lettering I. R. IRAN, which stands for the abbreviation for Islamic Republic of Iran.

The ground color of the registration was based on the use of the vehicle. Flag for privately used vehicles are running in black lettering on a white reflective background. Commercial vehicles, taxis, government vehicles, driving school and car carrying a yellow sign with black writing. Government vehicles are recognizable by the white lettering on a red background. Police vehicles carry a green license plate with white letters. For classic cars and military vehicles 2012 new indicator to be introduced in November.

Indicator in free trade zones

The characteristics of the free trade zones have American format. On the left, the logo of the free trade zone is shown on a blue background. At the top of the Iranian flag stands with the English country name IR IRAN. On the right side of the white shield is divided in two by a horizontally extending Schwaren line. On the upper half is a five -digit number in Indo- Arabic notation. Among them, the same number sequence is shown in the Latin spelling.

Number plates or transit license plate

For trips abroad, a so-called transit license plate (german Transit Number Plate) is required. Transit marks are per vehicle output only once and life of the vehicle are long. By 2010 yellow signs were issued with black lettering. They wore either the letter combination " TEH " or " IR", each followed by five digits. They are still valid. Since September 10, 2010, however, a new series is issued ( see figure). The new transit marks are a translation of the original flag in Latin letters and digits. The number for the corresponding registration district is on the right side in white lettering on a blue background. This is followed by a three-digit right black clock on a white background. This is followed by a white letter on a red background, and then a two-digit black number on a white background. On the left, the logo of the " Touring & Automobile Club of the Islamic Republic of IRAN ( TACI ) " is displayed on a blue background. The wordmark of the Iranian automobile clubs is repeated at the bottom as white text on a blue background.
