Veikko Aleksanteri Heiskanen
Veikko Heiskanen Aleksanteri ( born July 23, 1895 in Kangaslampi, † October 23, 1971 in Helsinki) was the leading surveyor Scandinavia 1940-1970; from him and Helmut Moritz comes the best-known textbook of Higher Geodesy called "Physical Geodesy " (1967).
Heiskanen -founded with George Biddell Airy, the theory of isostasy and published some 100 technical papers, which also affected the field of geophysics.
Close cooperation to scientists of the German-speaking world existed beyond with Friedrich Hopfner, Walter Hofmann, Karl leather Steger and others.
